When we learn about all the things that we need to do to make ourselves healthy, our communities healthy, and our planet healthy, it seems hopeless. But we have learned in the last few months that we can do a lot more than we thought. We don’t want to give up being perfect at the expense of being good. We can’t be perfect, but we can try to be good. Everyone does not have to do everything to help themselves and their communities. One person may be helping feed the hungry, one person might be eliminating plastic from his household, one person may be eating less meat, another may be growing a new vegetable garden. Each of these people is making a contribution to their health and the health of the people and earth around them. We all need to do what we can, but we cannot beat ourselves up (or anyone else) because we cannot do everything. Try, try again. If we all do something, even if it is completely different than your neighbor, we can make a big impact on our health. If a million people each do one thing, it will make a bigger difference than one person trying to do it all. What the heck, it can’t hurt!
Perfection at the Expense of GOOD
